Doa pioneered Ultrasound imaging for diagnosis of sternal non-union and instability following cardiac surgery. Her PhD research established Physiotherapy guidelines for the diagnosis and management of sternal instability following cardiac surgery. She was part of the inaugural academic team of the Doctor of Physiotherapy at the University of Melbourne and the Master of Physiotherapy at the University of Canberra. Doa has worked in private practice, public and private hospitals settings in addition to holding teaching posts at the University of Melbourne, Australian Institute of Sport University of Sydney and the University of Canberra. She is an invited member of the European Association of Cardiothoracic Surgeons (EACTS) scientific committee and the inaugural founding member of the Nursing and Allied Chapter of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Cardiothoracic Surgeons (ANZSCTS). Professor Doa El-Ansary is a Physiotherapist and functional anatomist, with extensive clinical and research experience in cardiovascular and musculoskeletal physiotherapy.
